| Windows Defender Issue Windows Defender is blocking a safe program. In the Software Explorer part of WD it shows this program as Permitted. Why is WD blocking a permitted program? How do I unblock it since it's not listed in the Blocked list. It's another Vista catch22? |

| RE: Windows Defender Issue Hello John, I think you may have to work at excluding it from the scan, as an interim measure. Tools, Options, scroll down to Advanced options, and fill the box, by adding the full path and file name to the Tools/Options/ do not scan box, hit the add button, and Save. For the benefit of the community reading this post, please rate the pºst. I hope this post is helpful. | RE: Windows Defender Issue I had Windows Mail set up today and all of a sudden Windows Defender appears. Since I am a novice, I had no idea what is was until I searched. Lenova software is labeled "Not yet classified". Included is Lenovo care, omnipass but what concerns me is the Think Access Connections ,which is my wireless, is also labeled as Not yet classified. Please let me know what you think. I have had lots of problems in past with wireless but now it is fine and I do not want to have problems. Do you know if Not Yet Classified is a permanent label. I don't know what to do! Please help. "John" wrote: > Windows Defender is blocking a safe program. | Re: Windows Defender Issue Not yet Classified may mean the software doesn't have a digital signature and as long as you recognize the author (Lenovo) I wouldn't worry. My issue is with a Permitted piece of software getting blocked... nonsense stuff that I can't find a solution to. | RE: Windows Defender Issue Hello Maureen, Try this, Uncheck in Choose if WD should notify you about: software that has not been classified for risks and changes made to your computer by software that is permitted to run See if unchecking this option makes this alert go away. Checking this provides an additional safety margin for the knowledgable user, but it may also raise many alerts for perfectly safe software which is known to the user. Good luck - -- -- "Maureen" wrote: > I had Windows Mail set up today and all of a sudden Windows Defender appears. > Since I am a novice, I had no idea what is was until I searched.
