How on earth do you change file type icons?

Howdy,

Now surely they haven't removed this from Vista, if so, god only know why
they have?

I know how to change the default application/program that opens a certain
file type/extension using the "Default Programs" tool in Control Panel. This
all works great, but there is NO WHERE in there to change the icon associated
with this file extesnion?

In XP it was all done via the Tools > Folder Options > File Types tab, here
you could tell windows what program to use for that perticular extension, and
also tell it what icon to associate with this extension!

Why can I not find anything similar in Vista? I'm sure its in there
somewhere right? Just hidden away from the user? I'm not prepared to download
a third party tool to do this, so I hope it is in there?

Anyone have any advice, this will be appreciated!

You can do this in the registry by adding a 'DefaultIcon' key for the
particular extension you want to change.
