is there an Image Resizer PowerToy for Vista?

To my work, this is the most useful feature in XP. What is the Vista
equivalent?

There isn't a PowerToy that work with Vista which is a shame. However, all
is not lost as there's a free program that does very similar - and it's
free!

Have a look at http://www.vso-software.fr/products/image_resizer/

I have never used Windows image resizer, but IrfanView is a very nice
free image viewer/manipulation tool.

Irfanview is nice, but Image Resizer is beautiful for its simplicity.
There's no interface, only a menu item when you right-click on a the file
icon. My wife is professional photog and resizer is critical to her daily
workflow process for posting proofs online. She can resize 1000 jpegs in 2
clicks.

The only I know of in Vista is that Windows Photo Gallery will resize
pictures when you click on Email.... it will downsize the photo attachment.

Wow - that is powerful. IrfanView does have a batch mode, but it is
definately more than 2 keystrokes away. Good luck!

You can download the Windows Live Photo Gallery Beta, it allows you to
resize images in batches (rather than going to send to e-mail like you need
to do at the moment).

Re: is there an Image Resizer PowerToy for Vista?

I've got Photo Gallery but it's still a little cumbersome since you have to
open the app. Although it looks like it is actually the XP Powertoy in a new
form.

I'll try the VSO tool.

Re: is there an Image Resizer PowerToy for Vista?

I'm new to Vista I had the same problem. VSO is free and does all the same
things as the XP powertoy, even if there's one extra click in the process.
It's also much more modular, and the final image produced is of a higher JPEG
definition that with the XP Powertoy.

Make you wonder why Microsoft never put one in, but then that's another
debate!
