Geez, what a rip-off! You were wise to check. Office 2007 is supposed to be the version that works best on Vista, but I dunno ... I've had Office 2003 running on one Vista machine here for many months, specifically to check for compatibility issues. I've used Word, Excel, PowerPoint, outlook, run macros etc etc... no problems at all. Office 2007 is also a considerable re-learning effort. I have Office 2007 on my laptop; it's okay, I'm starting to like it; but it certainly isn't a necessary upgrade for the ordinary user. There are a few Vista compatibility issues which are fixed in Office 2003 SP3, but they are pretty minor: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en -- Andrew McLaren amclar (at) optusnet dot com dot au |

If yes, that might have been the reason for their comment. In that case, it's not that Office 2003 wouldn't be compatible but you might not have been able to get it installed and if you had been able to do so, you probably couldn't have gotten it activated. -- Michael Solomon Backup is a PC user's best friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ |

I don't necessarily agree that Office 2007 is better than Office 2003 on Vista! JW |

| Re: MS Office 2003 has problems in Vista NO, dear Dave, MS Office 2003 does not work fine with Vista. It has all kinds of problems and SP3 didn't make any difference. It stops and gives you debug errors all the time. For example, try to get to work the Gallery of Office Assistants in Options. You will get a message saying: There is not enough memory available to complete this operation. In spite that I have a new computer with 2 GB of RAM and an almost empy 320 GB Hard Drive. Can you help on this? Please let us know how to fix it. Thanks.
