| RE: screensaver not working The computer maybe new, currently drivers of all types are being modified for Vista compatibility on a regular basis lately by manufacturers, check the video card manufacturers website for updated drivers and /or the computer manufacturers website also. If they have later drivers download & install, following their instructions. -- Regards Bob J If advise given from anyone, solves problem or not, or if solved from another source, post back & let us know. Then we all benefit. | RE: screensaver not working i bought the computer like 2 months ago so yeah its new, i searched around and found the video card website and updated the drivers for vista users, still wont work and have no other idea what it could be. and now today i have a new icon next to the time and date in the bottom right hand corner that says safely remove hardware. when i double click on it it has window that comes up and says select a drive you want to unplug or eject. i've tried closing it but it wont close... still runs in the background. does the creators of vista know about these problems... did they think about this before they started defaulting the system in new computers and charging people an arm and a leg for CRAP? | RE: screensaver not working I am not really responding to this, but rather wondering if anyone has a solution for this issue. I am having the exact same issue as 'redneckmama311.' Does anyone have a fix? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. | Re: screensaver not working Problem is screensavers worked fine before. I try to use restore points, but each I try will not work. It keeps saying Windows did not restore successfully. Any suggestions? What do you mean by set up different Vista account? | Re: screensaver not working Having similar problem - this does not solve it, but may get it working again for you: 1. The screensaver to come on and use a password after 5 minutes 2. This works as expected... until 3. Install a Windows update 4. The screensaver either does not come on, or 5. The screensaver no longer requires a password 6. Go to 'Personalize' 7. Uncheck use password - Apply 8. Check use password - apply 9. Go to step 1 and repeat This does not seem to happen with every update. For example, Defender updates don't seem to do this. For most others, and, I think, for any that require a restart, it does. Maybe someone else will have a 'real' solution.
