*.sqm files in root directory

What are *.sqm files in root directory? The dates range from 1st boot to
current. Should these be left alone or can they be deleted. I have tried to
view the contents of the files but it is in computer language, not english.

Re: *.sqm files in root directory

its from live messenger shared folder service...

You can turn off the shared folders if you dont use that feature from the
messenger options or from the services snap it (from control panel)

now dont ask me why they made it so stupid.

Re: *.sqm files in root directory

I opened messenger and removed the check in the sharing folder option. I did
not find the services snap it in control panel. Can I delete the sqm files
safely?

Re: *.sqm files in root directory

you can delete them with no problem at all...

if they still come up ( I dont think they will but anyway)

you can disable the service

to find the service push the round vista start button and in the search type
services.msc then run that

that will open the services snap in, then find tthe one that says "messenger
sharing folders USN journal reader" right click on it and select properies
and disable
