He didn't know that you had searched the Knowledgebase... he didn't insult your intelligence in any way that I could discern. You seem a tad defensive to me... but that's just my read on it. I'm sure you could ask 10 regulars in here and get 10 different replies as to whether Mr. Barnes was insensitive to your needs. Personally, I do not. Anyway, back to your response... you didn't indicate that you'd searched the knowledgebase, just that you'd searched MS's website, so why be so offended when someone points you in that direction? Perhaps -you- assumed that the op -would- assume that you'd searched the KB. Too many assumptions for a smack down, methinks. And... with that all said, I applaud your understanding that you -could- be "doing the wrong thing on there and make it worse..." Bravo! Too many folks just dive in with no understanding of the implications of their actions. As to having a solution to your problem, alas, I do not. Sorry. Lang |

| RE: wmi On checking to Knowledge Base the problem seems to be mainly related to PC's with Server2003 installed, I presume you are not running that OS, there are a couple relating to XP, but nothing on Vista. Which version Vista are you running? Provide PC details, please Had you installed any new programs recently, before message appeared? Have not got answer just yet but will investigate further, and get back to you!! Is your PC generally operating OK, once it starts up? On the other occasions it requires a 'hotfix", not absolutely sure yet wiil be in touch. -- Regards Bob J If advise given from anyone, solves problem or not, or if solved from another source, post back & let us know. Then we all benefit. | Re: wmi I asked what you did before this started happening. I meant before the series of errors started appearing. Had you installed a new program, a new driver etc. I would try a system restore to before the problem started and see if it goes away. If not you can roll back to your current restore point. You can look in the startup programs and uncheck any programs that you recently installed. Type msconfig in your start menu search box and select msconfig.exe then look at the startup items "Diana" <dber2007@comcast.net> wrote in message news:OnYC7KR7HHA.3624@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Oh yeah...like I said before. Repairing and re-registering the WMI http://windowsxp.mvps.org/repairwmi.htm ie the procedure from this line onwards "On other versions of Windows you can rebuild the Repository by doing the following"... You'll need an elevated cmd.exe in Vista (ie 'Run as administrator' via right-click) for the service stopping / starting -- Jon |
