Re: New Realtek HD Audio Drivers (ver. 1.75 31-AUGUST-2007)

You're welcome.

Do you hear any difference or see any difference in the Realtek Audio Manager?

Seems like Realtek is releasing new drivers almost every week now. It was about
every two weeks earlier. It's hard to keep up with all these driver updates from
these vendors.

Ok.

How do you install the darn things so that you don't get the "Elevation" / "Blocked program" prompt when
logging on as a standard user?

I've tried every way possible with no success.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Drivers (ver. 1.75 31-September-2007)

1. Right click on the downloaded file before installing and press the Unblock
button and the Apply button.

2. Even installing when logged on as an administrator, a UAC approval prompt is
required. (Note the shield on the icon.) I believe this is required for all
device driver installs.

Did that.
Still got the blocked program prompt when logging on as a standard user.

I'll uninstall and try again.

When I install these my 6.1 audio reverts to 2.0 stereo even though the
speakers all respond properly in the set up panel. Any one know of a fix ?

Try right clicking and set to always run as administrator.

The set up panel in Control Panel (Classic view) > Sound > Playback > Speakers,
or Control Panel (Classic view) > Realtek HD Audio Manager (also right click on
the RED speaker icon in the Notification Area of the Taskbar and select Sound

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Drivers (ver. 1.75 31-AUGUST-2007)

Tried them all. Installed as admin. Logitech X-530 speakers. Every thing is
set to 6.1 surround, all speakers give the proper test tones, Windows Media
player set to 6.1., all connections are correct. But playback is stereo
only. Had to do a system restore to get 6.1 back on original Realtek
drivers. Vista Premium on AMD dual core 3600 with 1 GB ram. Everything else
on Vista runs like a charm. Except of course for the wonky Windows Mail.
Even unplugged the speakers and plugged them back in to let the drivers
redetect them, they were picked up flawlessly; just don't work to play
stuff.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Drivers (ver. 1.75 31-AUGUST-2007)

You might have to run the setup twice: It seems that the first install removes
old drivers and after a reboot the second install actually installs the new
drivers, then after a second reboot everything is A-OK.

I manually uninstall the drivers in Device Manager ***including checking the box
to delete driver files*** and I uninstall the Realtek Audio Driver in Programs
and Features, reboot, install the new drivers, and reboot again.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Drivers (ver. 1.75 31-AUGUST-2007)

Now that odd. Trying that gives me front, center and sub but no rear or
surround. A system restore ends with a message that restore has failed and
no files have been changed but the Realtek driver is rolled back to 6.0
version and I have full sound on all speakers. I better stay with the 6.0.5
drivers for now. Thanks for your help.

Hey Cal Bear,
I downloaded the new driver from the link above, and installed it. When
it was done installing the machine rebooted and I received a notice that
it was ready to use, but it wasn't there. The realtek audio manager was
gone, and a check of the driver showed that windows had installed a
generic driver. I didn't even have the option to roll back because the
install file first uninstalls the original driver. A system restore made
me all warm and fuzzy again, but what do you suppose happened there?

Vista Home premium, 32 bit...

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Drivers (ver. 1.75 31-AUGUST-2007)

The first time you run the installer, if removers the Realtek driver, and
restarts your computer. In the meantime Windows will try to install it's
generic driver; just let Windows do it's thing (it may fail or "succeed", it
doesn't really matter. Should it "succeed", the generic driver won't
work). You then have to run the Realtek installer one more time, and reboot
one more time. Then the new driver will be installed.
