| Vista is suddenly blocking Comodo BOClean at startup I bought a new HP PC with Vista Home Premium last month and was running Comodo BOClean v4.25 with no trouble until recently. The last two days, whenever I reboot a Windows icon appears in my system tray with a message saying one program was blocked from startup. The program is Comodo BOClean. Every time I reboot, I have to click on this icon and give BOClean permission to run. I've repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled BOClean, clicking "Run as Administrator," but after rebooting Windows keeps inexplicably blocking it from starting. I have no idea why this is happening and I can't find any way to stop Vista/Windows Defender from blocking BOClean. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

You are just beginning to see the limitations of Vista and how it tries to control your computer. -- Alias To email me, remove shoes |

| Re: Vista is suddenly blocking Comodo BOClean at startup I think a program compatibility update just came out a couple of days ago. It probably killed your app. Vista stopped PC Anywhere 11.1 from working (it would at least run remotes before) with a compatibility update. I had to unistall that update until Symantec finally came out with PCA 12. |

| Re: Vista is suddenly blocking Comodo BOClean at startup I'd hoped for a suggestion less drastic than installing a different operating system to solve what should be a minor problem. I suspected it might be a recent Windows Vista "reliability" update which is causing the problem. My notions of "reliability" and "compatibility" have never coincided with Microsoft's. I rarely visit this forum. Based on the posts subsequent to my question (with the notable exception of Reggie Dunbar's), this board appears to be infested with immature dolts. Pity. Is there a Safe list listed in there by any chance that you can put the Comod BOClean in. Just a suggestion. Otherwise you might ask in the Windows Defender newsgroup . | Re: Vista is suddenly blocking Comodo BOClean at startup Thank you, Peter. I may check out that newsgroup. I thought Windows Defender was simply an anti-spyware program. I used AutoRuns to block Windows Defender from startup since I also have Spy Sweeper for MSN but it runs anyway. Defender seems to be integral with the Vista OS. I still think one of the recent Vista updates is the culprit. What I find peculiar is that I am currently operating with two FirstDefense-ISR snapshots on my PC. Both snapshots have all Windows Vista updates installed. The snapshot with NOD32 and the Windows firewall is the one which blocks BOClean from startup. The snapshot with Kaspersky Internet Security v7 isn't blocking BOClean. The only software change to either snapshot in the last two days has been the Windows updates, but BOClean is only being blocked in the NOD32 snapshot. I can't fathom why this is happening. The Windows updates/Windows Defender configuration is identical in both snapshots. "Peter Foldes" wrote: [color=blue] > Karen > > I do not know anything about Windows Defender. | Re: Vista is suddenly blocking Comodo BOClean at startup Comodo is still working on getting its products to play fair with Vista. I'm waiting for their firewall to be, and that, in unison with BOClean will be good. They say it will be ready soon.
