If you want to read the blue screen click Start, type System, click System,
click System Protection, click Advanced, under Startup And Recovery click
settings, under System Failure uncheck Automatically Restart.

I have the exact same problem, and it's driving me nuts.

I thought it was the latest Realtek sound drivers or ATI display
drivers, but going back to previous versions doesn't solve the
problem.

It seems to me though that if the pc is going idle the problem occurs.
So I suspect it might be the system idle process.

Anyway, here's my specs:
Opteron 170 @ 2.6
Asrock 939 Dual Sata-2
Radeon X1900GT
4GB DDR

Running Vista Ultimate.
