| User Access Control and Internet Explorer on Vista Home Premium I'm having trouble launching IE from Vista. For example, with UAC active, I can't follow embedded links in outlook messages. IE launches, but does not access the internet. If I click the desktop icon for IE, same thing. But if I use the right-mouse button and say launch IE as administrator, it works fine. Problem is -- since IE is the default browser, there are lots of ways to launch it, and it does not work without launching as administrator, which just doesn't seem to be possible. I have tried many ways to enable IE access from the UAC panel, but I can't do it. I am signed on as administrator, but when I try to save the new permissions (set to 'full'), the system refuses to save them. For now, I have disabled UAC, and IE launches properly. What should I do to make IE work in a 'normal' manner? This is a new HP Pavilion computer, well equipped, and with no other problems. Thanks for your help. |

Uncheck the box next to "Enable Protected Mode" and then click on "Reset all zones to default level", then click Apply. Close all IE windows and then restart IE. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "little.red.corvette" wrote: I'm having trouble launching IE from Vista. | Re: User Access Control and Internet Explorer on Vista Home Premium UAC and IE7 work hand in hand to provide IE's "Protected Mode" as security against malware/spyware.
