Vista Sound Recorder Does Not Record

I can't get the Vista Sound Recorder to record using my microphone (ASUS
Array Mic & another older model). I setup the mike in Control Panel/Manage
Audio Devices everything seems to setup fine and I can see the volume level
fluctuate when I do the config test.

I'm using onboard sound (no sound card) with M2N-SLI Deluxe

However, when I open the Vista Sound Recorder and start recording, the
volume meter bar(window) never moves/displays at all and when I play the
saved recording there is no sound.

Re: Vista Sound Recorder Does Not Record

The same here - exactly! Scroll down to the thread "Microphone Vanished!" -
8th August 06.22 and you will see that our problem is not at all uncommon.
I have even installed the freebie recorder Audacity but I still get silence.
I refuse to believe that everybody's adapter must be malfunctioning. It
must be a Vista issue.

RE: Vista Sound Recorder Does Not Record

Err...ah :) It works fine now that I installed the latest sound driver for
my mobo...I went to ASUS site and there was a newer version of my sound and
now all is just peachy :)...I should have thought a bit more before posting :)

Me too! )-: However, the preloaded Vista drivers are obviously garbage.
