| Re: Windows Media Player won't open.. What happens if you right-click on a Media Player shortcut, choose Open File Location, and double-click on wmplayer.exe? If nothing happens, open Task Manager (right-click your Taskbar) and see if wmplayer.exe is running, on the Processes tab. If it is, right-click wmplayer.exe, and choose End Process. Then try to open Media Player again. "Me" <Me@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5A0CE892-11F8-4F1B-AB4C-9B16D36AF898@microsoft.com... > Whenever I try to use WMP it simply won't open. | Re: Windows Media Player won't open.. Hi dean, I'm having the same problem however your solution did not work. I don't even have the luxury of double-clicking on wmplayer.exe. Unlike me, my player doesn't work at all. Anyone please help! I miss Urge and my music. Thanks. | Re: Windows Media Player won't open.. When you say you don't have the luxury of clicking on wmplayer.exe, are you saying that it's not in C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player? Or, on the other hand, if the file is there, and you double-click on it, are you saying it's not showing up on the Processes tab of Task Manager? | Re: Windows Media Player won't open.. I had the exact same problem as you, you probably have some problems with internet explorer also? Anyway, this bit is very important you go to the start menu and search for command prompt. When you find command prompt you must open it as an administrator this is known as an elevated command prompt. To get wmp 11 to work you have to type BOTH these in to command prompt:(Make sure you include the space between regsvr32 and the rest in both cases. 1.regsvr32 jscript.dll, and then click OK.2. regsvr32 vbscript.dll, and then click OK. Really hope this helps |

| Re: Windows Media Player won't open.. What had you done or installed or uninstalled to get to the point where JScript wasn't registered properly? I've heard of this issue from other users before, but it's been unclear how anyone would ever possibly get into this state other than bad "registry cleaners" or some sort of registry corruption. =\ Thanks for posting up the tip! =) -- Speaking for myself only.
