Hi James I'm not sure what you mean by "doesn't show any more". Do you mean you don't even get the "Performance information and Tools" in Control Panel? Or that the applet still apears, but it refuses to update your existing score?. Anyway ... you can run the Performance Rating tool (winsat.exe) from the command line. This might help reveal the problem; and it will refresh your current performance data :- Go to Start menu and find Command Prompt in Accessories. Right-click and choose Run as Administrator, to open an Administrative Prompt Type in these commands: C:\> cd C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore>mkdir Saved C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore>copy * Saved C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore>del * C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore\*, Are you sure (Y/N)? y C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore> cd \ C:\>winsat formal -v Winsat will take a couple of minutes to run. Once winsat has completed running, it will return to a command prompt. C:\> Type "exit" to leave the Command Prompt. Now, go back to Control Panel, System and Maintenance, System, Check your system's Windows Experience Index base score. You should see updated performance data. Obviously if you get any error messages along the way, make a note of them and report back to the newsgroup. You can also catenate the verbose output of Winsat to a file: C:\>winsat formal -v > MyPerf.log and inspect the myperf.log to get all the grizzly details. Run "winsat /?' for more details about command line options. Hope it helps! -- Andrew McLaren amclar (at) optusnet dot com dot au |

| Re: Windows Experience Rating not working Your description is not enough to tell me if your problem is the same as one that I had, but if it is, this link may help - it was posted by someone here a few weeks ago when I lost my access to the experience index, and following these instructions got it back. http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/152/1/ R. | Re: Windows Experience Rating not working I have the same problem. I tried both methods and it still did not work. I'm going to update my drivers again. My "Rating:" is blank, and for Processor: along with Memory (RAM):, it says "Not Available" . This also happens on my gf's computer. This is related to a problem where the Network Icon was showing a red "X" and when you hover over it, it would say "Connection status unknown, Server execution failed" Please let me know if anyone has found a solution to this problem. |
