I did what the article said with the keys, held them down for about a minute
or so and the screen went off with popping multiple screens, and it was
still going off well after I released the keys.

Eventually, Explore crashed and restarted, all the jobs in the job tray were
knocked out, but the system never crashed.

I just clicked on the X to close out the screens, which really were not that
many of them with all the jiration that was going on, and logged off and
logged back on. The system never crashed and was good to go.

I am not saying that it's not a problem, but it never crashed the system.

You use that word troll like you know what the word means and who is a
troll. I don't think you do. However, you have some trolls running around in
this NG.

Why should we get a rebate now when we didn't get one for RC1, 2, and all
the supposedly "horrid" real betas?

However nothing was ever promised or even implied as a reward for
members of the Tech Beta or participants of the Customer Preview
Program.
Everyone was promised nothing and they all got at least that.

Now carl, there's no need for any name calling in here.
In fact, if anyone needs to be called any "names" I'll be the one to do
it, ok?
And btw, you're nothing but a scumbag low life ignorant, illiterate,
linux loser troll!
Have a nice day carl!

Better. MS tried, and discarded, all sorts of eye candy crap like that
during the early development of Vista, on the grounds that it makes
productivity *worse*.

Linux coders can't design a decent user interface, that's for sure.

:)

I don't know if he is a new comer or not, maybe he is. I'd probably say
something like his "disclaimer" if I've just landed here and read so many
name callings around here.

What he actually said at the begining:

>If you attack me for just posting this, then you are a troll[...]

I don't think he means anyone "replies" is a troll.

But that's just what I read :)

Re: Windows Vista can be completely killed by pressing a simple combination of just two keys

??????????????

Quite normal, it is the purpose of this combination ! (open a computer
window)

just to prevent this behaviour : cut nine of your ten fingers (any nine
fingers will work)

or

stop pressing the combination with your two little fingers
admire the pretty firework of pretty windows
and with the same two little fingers, press the combination ALT+F4
(you can use two different fingers - it will work too)
No reBoot needed

Boy, that's a whole lotta WOW!

Does it do anything that actually make one more productive? Doubt it.
Does it chew up more processing resources while giving you all that WOW?
Betcher bippie on it.

My favorite UI is Fluxbox on Linux. Simple good looking and very
productive. The main feature is that you can group windows by dragging the
on to eachother. Has to be tried to be understood.

And I said Vista looks good. Doesn't mean it works good. But I think the
new Explorer and Start Menu is a step in the right direction even though
it's not a change in direction.

This looks and works really good in my humble opinion:

I -think- Frank was making a joke. Any APCI compliant OS in conjunction with
APCI compliant hardware, should shut down if one holds the power button for
4-5 seconds. It's not a bug, it's a feature. For real.
