Cant install Java on Vista

Everytime I try to install JRV 6 on my computer I get this message..

"This instillation package could not be opened Verify that the package
exsists and that you can acess it or contact the application vendor to verify
that this is a valid windows installer package"

Any suggestions?

Re: Cant install Java on Vista

You need to find and install the latest version of jre-6-windows- 586.exe
the space before the 586 is an upside down !

"error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are
valid"

My first guess would be that you have a corrupted download.

Are you installing Java from here? -
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
If not, this is the most reliable place to get Java.

Before trying again, clear your Temporary Internet Files cache: in Internet
Explorer, go to Tools menu, Internet Options, General, Delete, Delete Files
(don't delete cookies, etc; unless you really want to - only Files). Then
restart IE.

Follow the instructions at:
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_ie.jsp?locale=en&host=www.java.com:80

If it still fails, try the procedure described at:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/6000010300.xml

Java 6 Update 1 is compatible with Vista and should normally it install
okay.
