samsung blackjack SGH-i607 smartphone won't sync in Vista WMD 6.1

I upgraded to Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1.6965 but my AT&T (Cingular)
smartphone (Samsung Blackjack SGH-i607) makes noises when the USB cable is
connected BUT it does not appear anywhere in Vista Ultimate as a mobile
device let alone as a smartphone. The phone uses Windows Mobile 5 and I have
Outlook 2007 I want to sync but I can't get the desktop to even recognize the
phone. Device Manager shows MS Windows Mobile Remote Adapter whenever the
USB cable is connected to the smartphone.

RE: samsung blackjack SGH-i607 smartphone won't sync in Vista WMD 6.1

You know, I have the exact same problem. I know my post may not be helpful,
but I'm hoping that others will notice the thread. I try three different USB
hubs: at the front of the PC, at the back (with, I guess, more "direct" power
and interface), and on a powered USB hub, and I get the same thing. The OS
beeps as if it were mounting the device, but Windows Mobile Center (I think
it's called that) shows no change (i.e., Not Connected), and I can't find the
device in the Hardware Manager. Not even as an unidentified USB device.
However, the front and HUB USB ports cause the OS to report that there isn't
enough power for the device. That's something....

I'm a Mac and Vista user, and the phone is recognized and syncs fine on the
Mac, and from any USB port. Still, I'd love to be able to sync it from
Outlook on Vista so I can use Agendus for Windows Mobile and Desktop to
really have control over all my info the way I'd like to.

Anyway, if there's anyone who can help us with this problem, please reply.
Any advice would be very helpful.

Thanks.

RE: samsung blackjack SGH-i607 smartphone won't sync in Vista WMD

I found this message by Chris in another post. Maybe it'll work for both of us:

"After contacting Cingular, several levels of support at Samsung, and
Microsoft (none of whom were able to help at all), I FINALLY figured it out!
It actually wasn't so much a Vista issue as it was an issue of Intel hardware
incompatibility with Vista:

***IF YOU'RE RUNNING VISTA ON AN INTEL MOTHERBOARD, YOU HAVE TO DISABLE
"QuickResume Technology" IN THE BIOS!!***

Apparently Intel's VIIV QuickResume technology is not compatible with Vista,
so even if you've successfully installed the VIIV package AND the quickresume
driver set, the setting in the BIOS can cause obscure hardware problems when
enabled -- one of which is not recognizing mobile USB devices. The setting
can be found in the Power sub-menu of Intel's BIOS setup.

I hope this saves somebody else out there the many hours & headaches I've
spent figuring this out [and I hope Cingular, Samsung, & Microsoft are taking
notes since their "technical support staff" are supposedly paid to know these
things.... ;) ]"

RE: samsung blackjack SGH-i607 smartphone won't sync in Vista WMD

I had huge problems with my Mio A701. Every time I connected it Device
manager would show the Remote Adapter popping up in the Network Adapter
section but Windows Mobile Device Centre simply wouldn't kick in and detect
anything at all.

I had a look at the installed update and noticed that there were a couple of
Windows Updates for this Remote Adapter thing, so I uninstalled WMDC, then I
uninstalled the Windows Updates that involved the Remote Adapter.

Then I RE-INSTALLED WMDC and bingo, attach my Windows Mobile 5.0 phone and
up it pops in WMDC.

Just re-run Windows update to re-install the updates for the remote adapter
now that WMDC "knows" about my phone.

I reckon there is an "order" for installing stuff. Get it wrong and things
fall over.
