I have a simple program (Stockbrowser) that runs without any problems in my
previous Windows 2000 PC.
After moving it to Vista (Home Premium) most of the functionality is OK, but
applying one of its functions gives the message:
Access Violation at adress 00000000. Read of adress 00000000
I have tried to apply the Compatibility selection Windows 2000 and Windows
95, but this does not resolve the Access Violation problem.
Any suggestions what to do ?

Using Google, I searched for Stockbrowser, went to the web page, and
then a link to forums. I then used Babel Fish to translate from Dutch
to English on one thread called Windows Vista. Here's the link to it:

Thank you for your efforts to search and look into a dutch forum.
The question in that forum relates to another function that is not working
properly in Stockbrowser (no problem in my Stockbrowser version).
One of the suggestions in that forum is that the folder structure of
Stockbrowser is not what Vista requires; i.e. config files and exe should not
be in the same folder.
If this is true I wonder what the purpose is of offering selections of
Compatibility with older Windows versions.
Anyone with ideas for a solution

I think what you need to do is contact the publisher of the software tech
support about the issue. Maybe they have a workaround.

The program Stockbrowser is many years old and not supported anymore.
In spite of the old age of the program it is still very popular among
amateur investors.

Well, if it's old and it's not going to run on Vista, then it's not going to
run and you need to replace it.

You can do this as well, if you have a version of Vista that will run it.
