| Removing records/history of deleted files I have Vista Home Premium on our notebook. When I download HTML docs, avi and similar video files and pictures to Computer/C drive/Users/Fred/Download folder and after I have reviewed them and either burnt them to disc I then delete them from the Download folder. I also ensure that I clear Recent Files and the recycle bin is emptied when I close down the computer. I also use use Cleanup and Windows disk clean regulary to clean my computer. When I save a file to Downloads folder I right click and select SAVE TARGET which in turn opens SAVE DOWNLOAD screen to save the particular HTML, avi or wav etc video format or jpg picture to the Downloads folder. The Downloads folder opens with the name of the file and file type appearing in a menu box in bottom half of screen. Normally you would click on OK to save file. However when I clicked on the down arrow appearing on the RHS of the file name box prior to you actually pressing OK to Save file to the Downloads folder, a list of previously burnt and deleted files comes up. It is only a new notebook so it appears that all deleted files have been retained in sort of location despite deleting etc. I don't appear to have this problem on my PC with XP Home however my problem is that in Vista it appears that despite deleting files (HTML, video format of picture format) a record of that file remains. I have looked at Vista help and cannot identify a fix. Any thoughts to ensure a complete delete occurs with no record remaining. |

| Re: Removing records/history of deleted files Hi, It's not preserving the files, just the past names in an MRU list. This will be somewhere in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER and most likely be listed in binary, so not easily recognizable. As new ones are done, old names will be pushed out, but this is normal behavior. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Snow1947" <Snow1947@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:68DF98D8-4830-4C9D-9870-64AF0824DAEE@microsoft.com... >I have Vista Home Premium on our notebook.
