What is a time limit to evaluate it?
I could not find that info.

Untrue....

Vista is shall I say.. in pre alpha state.. but server 2008 is beta, so
more advanced than vista, and is faster indeed than vista... why?

Because it does not have all the vista crap installed by default..
if you start adding them back it gets as bogged down as Vista..

also server2008 has less drivers than vista rtm has at this stage...

numerous problems on test systems I have tried it on...

It is a bit better but not something to be fond about...

I had various blue screens and freezes because of problematic driver
support...

Re: If You Hate Vista, You'll Love Windows Server 2008 Beta 3, Just FYI.

If you don't like Vista as an Operating System why would anyone want to pay
for and run a Server OS on their PC? It is 2 different animals. 99.9% of
the people using Vista don't need, nor want to deal with a server OS. To
test it is a complete waste of time. Who cares? Not only shouldn't they
run a Server product, the normal antivirus products don't work on the
server, Beta or release, so they will need to purchase a server edition.

This is totally useless information and I'm not sure why you posted this.
Also, why do you need to add political commentary to your posts? Shouldn't
you be posting in another group? Remember, this is a Vista forum!

You are extremly negative arent you?

beta 3 will function up until around may 2008 and has everything vista
has...
plus more

My tests showed it faster.. since when you install it its kinda
barebone and
you can add what you want back

you can convert it into a desktop OS, just like many many people used
server2003 as a desktop because of its added stability...

How can you convert Windows server into a desktop OS?

Vista is in pre alpha state? Get a life. It went live months ago.

You should download it and try it on a virtual machine...
its a free beta download.

at first it is a barebone system, then you can add "desktop experience"
that adds all the stuff vista has..

You just have to tweak it a bit to function as a desktop, for example
it has some settings there to give priority to the background apps, but
that can be changed... also you are loged in as "super admin" by
default, so you would need to add another account.

It is greater than vista in the sense that it can do anything vista can
PLUS more.

But if you know a bit about computers you can do the changes needed.\

Is it for a grandma? No... she should stick with something easy and
simple.. and that is NOT Vista by the way... lol

Also what you said about antivirus programs is incorrect.

Many people use Server 2003 as a desktop and never wanted to go back to
XP.. the same will happen with 2008 and vista.. in fact its already
happening!!!

It is "theoretically" in RTM, but the quality is pre-alpha...
IT people wont get close to it with a 10 foot pole unless it has a SP,
that will be actually the contiuation of the development they left
incomplete in order to hastily push it out the doors. This was a bad
move of MS.Vista was not ready.. and they knew it.

You need something to get those nerves calmed.. why dont you go outside
and relax?

Kevin Panzke Syndrome - Just FYI

The Kevin Panzke Syndrome is a term used when a person has certain
limitations in mental functioning and in skills such as communicating,
taking care of him or herself, and social skills. These limitations will
cause a poster to learn and develop more slowly than a typical poster.
Former Postal Employees with Kevin Panzke Syndrome may take longer to learn
to speak, walk, and take care of their personal needs such as dressing or
eating. They are likely to have trouble learning in school, and posting to
Microsoft newsgroups. They will learn, but it will take them longer. There
may be some things they cannot learn. They keep trying. Make sure to
continue your Meds.

Just FYI.
