Windows explorer keeps on restarting !!!

I really dont know why the windows explorer in Vista keeps on restarting for
no abvious reason. I just bought a new Vaio with windows vista {Home} (pretty
annoying cause I was about to buy a mac which abviously does not keep on
crashing). However, I am trying to know where the problem is coming from
exactly and hopefully this is not normal for the new OS !!
Thanks to your feedbacks.

Please check in your Event logs to see if there is a more detailed
description of what is happening.

Start/Orb, type event, click on Event Viewer...

No it's not normal for a good install of Vista. I you have a new computer
with Vista preinstalled and it's giving problems, contact the computer tech
support to fix it under warranty. There should not be any problems with a
new computer.

Did you install something recently that was not Vista compliant and it
started this problem?

Re: Windows explorer keeps on restarting !!!

Actually, I only downloaded iTunes, quicktime and Gom Player that's all. I
always try not to install too many things cause I know the consequences :) I
also take notice if it is vista compatible or not. I just wanna add that I
just installed the windows update (which was optinal) but it made a great
difference as explorer does not restart like it used to. Thnx for ur reply. I
will also advise further in case of things got worse again. cheers

What specifically was that data found there--

Re: Windows explorer keeps on restarting !!!

My laptop is doing the same thing. How do I do that optional windows update
thing? Sorry, but I'm rather technology impaired!

RE: Windows explorer keeps on restarting !!!

I had the same problem. I have a workaround if System Restore fails to
correct this. For me, It even occured in Safe Mode.
1. Make your way to starting Internet Explorer
2. on the address bar type:"control panel"
3. go to User Accounts...-> Add User account-> Create New "Admininstrator"
Account.
4. Shut down manually if you have to and reboot and access the new Admin
account
You will now have new account with all original programs still installed and
access to old files via either:
a. Internet exporer-> Address bar-> type: C:\users\ your old user account name
b Start button-> computer-> C:\Users\ you old user account name.

* You'll find here folders which will contain you old docs, downloads, etc
from you old account.

Thanks,
spawnocula
