Re: Corrupted DVD driver

Hi,

Could be:

- the controller driver, not the driver for the optical drive, check the
properties of the cable in device manager.
- a dirty lens in the drive, suspect this if CD's work and DVD's don't, a
lens cleaner disk may help
- a faulty drive, so reinstalling is pointless, it would need to be replaced

Re: Corrupted DVD driver

Just to go back to the origin of this thread.

I have loaded the Freecom software that came with the Freecom 500GB
external hard disk on 3 machines using Vista and in all instances it
corrupted either the DVD or the USB ports. It was never clear whether
the drivers were corrupted since the Vista Driver Manager reported the
drivers as correct. The problem appeared to be that the operating system
could not load them.

The only solution was to re-install the operating system from scratch
and rebuild the systems.

Both MESH and Lenovo technical suspport resorted to this recovery
option.
