I finally installed the EMC 9 Suite since I saw a long promised DLA patch.
The previous installs would cause my LITE-ON drive to stop functioning even
after removing their "drag to disc" program. Everytime I uninstalled and
cleaned the registry and magically the drive functions again. A lot of hope
was placed in the DLA patch, but the Roxio software continues to stop the
drive from working.


Here are the details:

ASUS Crossfire Motherboard (Nvidia Chipset) with AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core
Processor 5400
OS: Windows 64Bit Vista Home Premium (installed fresh, not an upgrade from XP)
2MB of DDR2 667 RAM
500GB Maxtor SATA II HD
Nvidia GEFORCE 8800 GTS Video Card 640 MB
LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1H ATA Optical Media Read Writer <--- Non-functional
with EMC9 installed

The windows properties box for the drive indicates that the driver won't
load and it's using the Windows driver 6.0.6000.16386
