| I HATE MS Active"Stinks" Why cant Microsoft put some basic features into there active sync products instead of all the other garbage that nobody has any use for. Here is my wish list.... 1) A built in method to sync with lotus notes without using third party software. 2) a way to "export only" data from the computer to a device and vice versa. 3) A message informing the user what changes are going to be made before it happens. I have to use some third party application to sync with lotus notes (my work application) which is not compatible with VISTA and Outlook (my home application) causing me headaches beyond repair. whenever i sync my email and i delete it from my device, it deletes it from my computer which i DONT WANT. Another headache. Finally, because i have to use a third party application to sync with Lotus notes and it is not compatible with vista, it deleted all my contacts on my device and low and behold when i went to work to resync the !@#$%^ device again, Activestinks deleted all my contacts at work without this peice of garbage software telling me what it is going to do. Microsoft, look at blackberry sync software. it is very basic but it just works. thanks Microsoft, after all these issues, my brain is going to explode. later |

What are you trying to "export"? More Lotus Notes crap? Then you would be complaining that you have to ok everything before it syncs. Mostly, outlook, act and lotus notes. The blackberry software gives at least more than one option, that is why this called this a wishlist. > > > > > > 2) a way to "export only" data from the computer to a device and vice > > versa. > > > > > Export? Did you try to just brows your device and copy what ever you want. > What are you trying to "export"? > More Lotus Notes crap? I want the ability to export my email to my device only. Again, blackberry software can perform this function. and yes, it can export either lotus notes and outlook. > > > > 3) A message informing the user what changes are going to be made before > > it > > happens. > > > > Like what every email, calandar item, contact, file it is going to sync? > Then you would be complaining that you have to ok everything before it > syncs. remember, these are options, a simple dialogue stating that the software will be performing, for example, 4 additions, 6 changes and 2 deletions. so, in the case of errors, you will know your whole addressbook wont be wiped out. > > > > I have to use some third party application to sync with lotus notes (my > > work application) which is not compatible with VISTA and Outlook (my home > > application) causing me headaches beyond repair. > > > > So complain to the people that make Lotus Notes or the application you are > using. I DONT WANT THIS to happen. i just want to import the data to my device, that is it. > > Finally, because i have to use a third party application to sync with > > Lotus > > notes and it is not compatible with vista, it deleted all my contacts on > > my > > device and low and behold when i went to work to resync the !@#$%^ device > > again, Activestinks deleted all my contacts at work without this peice of > > garbage software telling me what it is going to do. > > > > You set it up to do exactly what its doing. No one to blame but yourself. > >again here is the scenario, think carefully, i tried to sync my device at home, Vista mobile deleted all my device contacts by accident. the reason it did this is because I had to install third party software to sync with lotus notes at work and vista had errors with this third party software. Currently, my device has no contacts so how do i get my contacts back on the device ???? well, bring it back to work and resync in hopes that work contacts will be put back on the device....Guess what happened!!!! Active sync looked at a blank device and decided to instead of putting contacts on the device, it deleted the contacts on the work computer becuase it thought i deleted it from the device. Makes sense, i dont think so. Hence the reason if the bloody software would tell me ahead it will be making 360 deletions from my computer i would have the chance to cancel the sync before proceding. > > Microsoft, look at blackberry sync software. it is very basic but it just > > works. > > > > thanks Microsoft, after all these issues, my brain is going to explode. > > > > later > > > > > > > > > |
