| System restore unable to restore points I decided to use system restore on vista business to roll back to an earlier state prior to a new driver problem. No matter what date i select system restore begins the restore process and eventually quits stating it was unable to complete the restore. I have admin rights. Any ideas? |

Any ideas? Since you haven't told us anything about your computer, I can only give you some general suggestions: 1. Do you have any Symantec products installed? If yes, see this link by MVP Bert Kinney: http://bertk.mvps.org/html/symantecdoc1.html 2. Do you have a Gateway computer? If yes, see this information from Jill Zoeller, MS: Go to System in Control Panel and open the System Protection tab. Do you see a drive called "Missing"? Selecting C:\ and deselecting "Missing" will allow the system to take restore points normally. Note that you will not have any restore points to restore to until a new restore point is made. If neither of those things fits your situation, take a look at MVP Bert Kinney's pages about System Restore here: http://bertk.mvps.org/html/vista.html Or post back with more information per this guide: http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" | Re: System restore unable to restore points You could just rollback the driver? | Re: System restore unable to restore points > I have admin rights. Any ideas? Try to roll back the driver only.. this is possible if you go to device manager and see the properties of the hardware listen in the device tree. as for general system restore: restore points form a chain of data, not each restore point is independent of the others. What does this mean? This means that if one restore point is corrupt then most probably others will be corrupt also. I would suggest to use disk cleanup to purge all prior restore points and create a new one |
