Incorrect. The firewall (in the case of ubuntu) is configured to not let
anything in by default. All ports are closed.

So in reality, it comes in a very usable state by default.

If someone wants more advanced protection, then they need to configure
those options themselves. Not unreasonable in my mind.

Brainwashed MS boys can only jealously hurl insults and never, ever,
address content.

You say I am a loser but what I use is free and what you use costs a
kidney and a liver.

Another typical MS fanboy tactic: declare himself the "winner" of the
debate and, of course, hurl another unfounded insult.

Actually that is *exactly* how you install video drivers these days.

Point on the restricted driver manager.
Cick it.
Point on the "enable" button next to your listed video card.
Click it.
Click OK.
Reboot.
Done.

Tell you what I Didn't need to install though:

- Drivers for any and all of my other hardware, including any and all
attached peripherals.

The nVidia proprietary drivers suck? Might want to let nVidia know about
that.

Actually, you do install both with a point and click.

But you see, unlike Microsoft, Canonical does not need 5 years to release
an update to their OS. They stick to a 6 month schedule with more new
features and changes every 6 months than MS can come up with in 5 years.

So Ubuntu has a habit of improving drastically every 6 months. =)

Which is exactly what happened when I installed Ubuntu.

My video works fine and I did not configuring at all. With Windows, I
had to first install the drivers that came with the CD and then update
them from ATI's web site.
[color=blue]

False. The drivers for my video card work just fine in Ubuntu and I did
*nothing*.

If you consider one click to install Java, another to install Flash
"hoops", you obviously haven't a clue.

It works out of the box and comes with everything you need. I can see
you haven't installed Ubuntu or, if you did, you didn't seek help
anywhere. If you open Fire Fox after installing Ubuntu, you will find
links to all kinds of support.

Gotcha. I made the mistake of interpreting "needing configuration" for
both the outgoing vista firewall and iptables as meaning the same in
terms of not providing any use at all until configured.

No, as I already mentioned I'm new to this group so there is no way I could
have seen all of your posts. But I have read a great deal of threads so far
and I have seen a *lot* of posts from you, *none* of which were helpful. So
statistically speaking, this leads me to believe that the rest of your posts
are equally as useful. Perhaps you do help the odd person but the odds are
stacked as you being as useful as a poopy flavored lollypop.

Yup. Ubuntu's made some great strides in the last few releases. I actually
love the "enchanced effects" they have. They're a ton more useful than
anything MS added to the Aero interface. Aero's pretty and all but it
certainly doesn't add anything useful.

You could sort by sender if you wanted to see all of them (within the
time period you've set), but your statistics are close enough. Don't
bother. You'll see mainly what he gave you. Nothing but rude
unprofessional blabbering. And he wants everyone to believe he's a
businessman:
