| Taskmanager physical memory question In Task Manager - Physical Memory I have the following numbers: Total 893 Cached 467 (changing but not too much or too often) Free 11, 15, 18, 12 (changing all the time). I also have CPU usage between 1 and 4 percent and Physical memory between 50 and 55 percent. I have tried looking in Help to try to understand these numbers but didn't get anywhere. Can someone please explain to me what these numbers mean. -- Tony Vella, Ottawa, Canada http://indian-biographies.shorturl.com |

| Re: Taskmanager physical memory question Total is the total physical memory (RAM). Cached is how much Vista is using to pre-load files that you might use (based on previous usage) Free is how much RAM is free and un-used. It can be low, as the cached RAM is available for any application to use as well. CPU usage is how much of the CPU is being used. It can come in handy when a process continuously runs really high, and can mean that it's locked up. Physical Memory shows how much RAM is being used at that time (non-cached). So, you can graph how much is being used by what applications, etc. -- Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com http://www.vistarip.com -- "Tony Vella" <tony.vella@rogers.com> wrote in message news:6IOdna5ctO8zn-XbnZ2dnUVZ_jidnZ2d@giganews.com... > In Task Manager - Physical Memory I have the following numbers: > Total 893 > Cached 467 (changing but not too much or too often) > Free 11, 15, 18, 12 (changing all the time). > I also have CPU usage between 1 and 4 percent and Physical memory between > 50 and 55 percent. > > I have tried looking in Help to try to understand these numbers but didn't > get anywhere.
