| How many Vista services are you running? After disabling unnecessary Vista services according to a few tweak guides, my home computer seems to run fast, smooth and efficiently with only about 38 services started. Is anybody running fewer services.? Also, my total number of active processes in Task Manager is 27. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y103/umo/services.jpg |

| Re: How many Vista services are you running? Umo What services you run will depend on how you use the system. What works for one user, may not work for another. Your best strategy is to study what each service enables you to do, as well as what other services depend on that service, and then decide whether or not you can do without that service. If your not sure, set the service to Manual and then keep an eye on it to see if something starts that service or just screams and hollers because it was changed. :) -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "umo" <shoreke******.com> wrote in message news:1182119939.581051.314210@n15g2000prd.googlegroups.com... > After disabling unnecessary Vista services according to a few tweak > guides, my home computer seems to run fast, smooth and efficiently > with only about 38 services started. | Re: How many Vista services are you running? Amen. A gamer will have a lot of services turned off, whereas an office PC will have more. Personally, I run just what I need. Nothing more. I run a few services that others don't, though. Folding@Home is a big one. (www.hardfolding.com). I don't run Automatic Updates, or Indexing Service. I do updates daily, though. Part of my daily routine. Some don't have a routine, and just let the PC do it themselves. It's all handled automatically... -- Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com http://www.vistarip.com -- "Ronnie Vernon MVP" <rv@invalid.org> wrote in message news:EB016C45-54AA-44A2-BB8F-91AF9589F725@microsoft.com... > Umo > > What services you run will depend on how you use the system.
