| Shadow Copy did not find a deleted file???!!!! HELP!!! Somehow a movie file (dvr-ms) got deleted on a public folder. I figured, "Oh no problem, I can get Vista's handy dandy Shadow Copy to get the backup." WRONG! I looked for the previous version of my "Recorded TV" folder. There seems to be many versions of the Recorded TV folder. But when I double click on each of the "previous version" folders, there are no files to be found. Just empty folders and subfolders. What the heck?! I thought that you could find previous versions this way. I thought you could find a recently deleted file this way. Does anyone know what may be wrong? Is there a setting I need to set in order to make Shadow Copy to perform as expected - because it's not very intuitive or else I would figure it out myself. Thanks in advance! Jack |

| Re: Shadow Copy did not find a deleted file???!!!! HELP!!! p.s. This seems to be just an issue with my "Recorded TV" folder and its subfolders. The "previous version" folders of other folders seem not to be empty. Again, thanks for helping me understand how Vista actually works compared to how I thought it worked. |

| Re: Shadow Copy did not find a deleted file???!!!! HELP!!! Well there is a limit to the size of the shadow copy size itself, or in othewords the percentage of disk it will use.. see here http://www.petri.co.il/change_amount_of_disk_space_used_by_system_restore_in_vista.htm "Jaxim" <mr_nice_1973******.com> wrote in message news:1182030752.840748.197420@o61g2000hsh.googlegroups.com... > Are you saying Shadow Copies do not make copies of files over a > certain size? | Re: Shadow Copy did not find a deleted file???!!!! HELP!!! Recently I also deleted some media files. And I recovered them with 'Advanced File Recovery' (http://www.advanced-file-recovery.com/). I like that the program has the unique preview feature, which allows previewing Microsoft Office documents, OpenOffice documents, images, audio files, archived files etc. Thus you can make sure that your files are recoverable without paying for the program. |
