Hi,
I bought a laptop with XP Pro installed and have recently upgraded to Vista.
At the same time the internet connection seems to be going very slowly now.
IE7. It was fine before the upgrade. Everything else seems to be working
just fine. Is this common and is there anything that I should change that
might help?

One factor with slow Internet ( browsing using IE-7 ) may be the
"Phishing Filter". Basically it operates as a verification that the site
you've requested is indeed the one you intended to visit. The filter
checks the URL (Universal Resource Locator) and confirms it is
valid. This can add some time/delay to the time it takes to fully
render a web page. You can check the Phishing Filter settings in
Internet Options, Advanced. It's category is about 80% down the
list of options.

Phishing Filter does not cause a noticeable slowdown of IE7
