| Lexmark Drivers for Lexmark 2300 series printers A friend has purchased a new Notebook computer. She has asked me to install the correct printer drivers. The operating system on her previous computer was Windows XP. The operating system on my friend's new computer is Vista Home Premium - but she does not know whether she has a 64-bit or a 32-bit processor. Lexmark have published drivers for Vista_x64 and Vista_x86. The x64 version is cjs2300EN.exe (61.0 Mb). The x86 version is cjr2300EN.exe (43.4 Mb). Until I see the computer, I won't know which driver I should install. Consequently, I have downloaded both drivers. I shall need to find out whether my friend has a 32-bit or 64-bit version of the Vista operating system. I shall be grateful if someone could tell me the easiest way to identify the operating system. I intend to create a restore point, before I install the printer drivers. Is the procedure for creating a restore point in Vista the same as for Windows XP? Also, should I connect and switch on the printer, BEFORE I install the drivers - or should I run the exe files first? Many thanks. |

NOTE: unless requested from the manufacturer, 64-bit rarely comes preinstalled on a system. -- Michael Solomon Backup is a PC user's best friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ |
