| Microsoft is putting out a Coffee Table - Can Ubuntu do this? |

| RE: Microsoft is putting out a Coffee Table - Can Ubuntu do this? Hi Bill, Yes I saw this on the idiot box and it looks quite interesting. We are slowly catching up with Star Trek. I noticed that if you place you digi cam on the screen that it downloads the pictures. With my warped sense of humour and this computer being called a coffee table, what would happen if your girlfriend sat on the screen ? The mind boggles lololol "Bill Yanaire" wrote: > > http://www.popularmechanics.com/tech...48.html?page=1 > > > > |

| Re: Microsoft is putting out a Coffee Table - Can Ubuntu do this? Be careful you don't put an adult magazine on that coffee table. Decades ago, every bar around here had tables with a monitor embedded in it with a Pong game going. OK, so technology has changed and now the graphics are better and a touch screen. But comeon ... innovation? Hardly. Apparently this $5000 to $10000 table will be running Vista. Now your coffee table can become a spambot. Run out and buy one, <snort>. Now old Billy Boy and Stevie Ogre can rest assured that the fools who buy it have only one Vista per table because they're, like Apple, selling the software and the hardware locked together. Then, again, the Chinese will probably clone the whole thing and sell it for $199 if it ever becomes popular. How much has xBox lost so far? Seems like the only products MS makes good money at are the easily pirated ones. I wonder why? Alias |

If you happen to have read MS's original business plan for xbox, you'd know initial losses were planned for to achieve market penetration. which has happened, as planned. If Vista can do it, Linux can do it better, btw. Yeah right! That guy in the garage is busy working on it as we speak. Frank |
