| Aero vs Basic - resolution changes on some app windows I'm running RC2 with Aero, and having no problems. Sometimes, when I use certain applications, I get an error message saying "The color scheme has been changed. The following program has performed an action that requires Windows to temorarily change the color scheme to Windows Vista Basic..... Windows will automatically change the color scheme back to Windows Vista Aero when this program or other programs performing similar actions are no longer running." That's fine, and I don't mind it... But when it goes to Windows Vista Basic, certainly application windows get smaller on my screen... the fonts get smaller within them... almost like the resolution is changing for those applications, or something... (I actually prefer the way it looks like that, but I dont know how to make it stick - shy of turning Aero off altogether) Anyone have any idea what's going on? Thanks... |

If you right click > properties > compatibility tab, on the program's .exe file of shortcut... the "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" might do what you want. In Control Panel, try updating the Java VM to the latest version, as I remember having some Aero Glass problems when I started using Vista until there was an update that fixed it. ss. |

| Re: Aero vs Basic - resolution changes on some app windows Thanks, SS. Some of the offending programs are no longer sending my computer into Windows Basic (I think the Java update helped with that), and some of the programs I'm using are no longer scaling to a weird resolution. One program that is still doing the latter problem, however, is iTunes. Any ideas? I've tried changing that "display scaling" setting, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Hmmm....??? I never liked WMP either, but I actually think WMP11 is very nice, and I have finally stopped using Winamp. ss. |
