I had an issue when upgrading to Vista Home Premium that all my Start Menu
icons appeared corrupt. Instead of a folder, the icon came up as a "blank"
icon. I could not locate any resolution to fix the problem.

I finally downloaded software from Stardock.com, specifically their Object
desktop and there is a program there where you can change or modify icons on
your OS.

This worked perfect and fixed the issue I had. This is why I think the Aero
Icons on Vista itself somehow got corrupted during the upgrade.

I would suggest the software above if you can't fix this problem and require
an easy fix.

its good that you solved your problem... You found a solution that was fast
to get around a problem.


but its sad that vista is so badly written that you had to resort to such a
thing...

by the way with stardock windowblinds you can make xp look like vista, aero
glass effects....

and still have the XP compatibility and speed
