Can not update Windows Defender and have tried tofollow the troubleshooting
guides but still no luck.
I get error code 0x80070643 when i try to updat new definitions for
Defender
Can anyone help?
Knowledge Base has no information on this error code!!

i had the same problem but different error code found a workthrough in ms
help and support try this link it should solve your problem

Ok that didn't fix my defender problem--but surprising it fixed a problem i
had been having with Yahoo Messenger (which had been saying it wasn't
working properly)
Any other suggestions? I wonder why I get an error message that the
Knowledge doesn't recognize!!?? 0x80070643 !!

I have had to uninstall Defender in XP several times and reinstall it.
I'm wondering in Vista if it will let you reinstall it??
