Those using Vista's Mail&News program can:

Collapse the thread and, while its first post is highlighted, key delete.
The delete key is directly above the left arrow key, below the Insert key.
Then you have to bump the dialogue boxes away from default with the
arrow keys, and key enter to get the job done. Or use mouse clicks.

Those using the CDO don't get to have this fun deleting threads.
