| Windows Photo Gallery Viewer I was wondering if there was a way to enable rotating images in Windows Photo Gallery Viewer? I dont want to have to open the Windows Photo Gallery just to rotate one image. I just want to do a quick edit. I was able to in XP. I dont think they'd remove that function. To give you more information, this is what I am doing: Double-Click the jpeg on my desktop--->a preview is shown in Windows Photo Gallery Viewer---> the rotation buttons are "greyed out" or inactive. The rotation buttons are only activated when i open Windows Photo Gallery. Any Ideas IBM ThinkPad T60P Vista Ultimate |

| Re: Windows Photo Gallery Viewer I answered this in another newsgroup... your file is probably set as Read-Only. Right-click - Properties - uncheck Read Only Attribute - Apply "ixloco" <ixloco@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:59FAE063-E679-48AA-8509-A06F4F9DCA84@microsoft.com... >I was wondering if there was a way to enable rotating images in Windows >Photo > Gallery Viewer? > > I dont want to have to open the Windows Photo Gallery just to rotate one > image. I'm assuming you've had this issue since you first installed Vista otherwise I'd suggest using the System Restore feature to you back to a time when it was functioning. Do you have any other image viewing software installed as it might be interfering with the function if it is your default app for this sort of thing. That shouldn't matter but stranger things have happened. If you do have other image software installed, are you sure it is fully Vista compatible? The only other option I can think of is to try using the Vista Repair function. Boot from the Vista install disk, when you get to the setup screen, choose the repair option. In any event, I can confirm the "rotate" option has not been removed so something is preventing the buttons from becoming active in the scenario you have described. -- Michael Solomon Backup is a PC user's best friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ |

I just copied the same image to may desktop that I tested earlier, marked it, read only, and sure enough, when set that way, you can't rotate! Assuming there are no other issues, you just saved the OP a lot of grief!:-) -- Michael Solomon Backup is a PC user's best friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ |

Irfanview.com. It is freeware , and the most recommended image viewer/editor there is. Pflu |
