This is my 3rd attempt at trying to get a solution for successfully backing
up my files.

Everytime I try to run backup, it says at the very end of the backup
process, 'The backup did not complete successfully. An error occurred. The
following information might help you resolve the error: There is not enough
space to save the backup files. Free up disk space or change your backup
settings. (0x81000005).

What in the world can I do to get a successful backup done?

Any help would be very much appreciated,

This is the first time I have seen this post, but it doesnt suprise me that
nobody could give you an answer. need some key info from you. What drive
are you trying to back up? How large is the data? where are you trying to
save the backup to? Do you have other files or programs open when you try to
do this?

Once you can privide this information, we can begin trying to solve your
problem

If you are backing up to a drive that is formatted as fat32 (most all
manufactured external drives are formatted as such), and the amount of
information you are backing up totals more than 4 gig, you will get this
error.

Fat32 has a file size limit of 4 gig for any given file, no matter how large
the drive is. To get around this, format the drive as NTFS file system.

Well maybe nobody bothered since you seem to have answered your own
question.

1. Did you run out of hard disk space? If yes, well duh, that's the
reason you're getting an error. If you did not run out of space
did you try backing up to a different hard drive?

2. You using a store bought computer like a Gateway or Dell that came
with a partition set aside for recovery? If yes, and you're
attempting to back up to that, you likely will run out of room
quickly since the intended purpose of the recovery partition is
just to restore the system back to the state it was shipped in,
not to store backups of all your data files.

3. Did you try to help yourself? I just entered 0x81000005 into Goggle
and got over a thousand hits all pretty much the same.
