windows update won't install

Windows update tell me there is a download for my PhotoSmart 8400 series
printer and it downloads it and tries to install but then I get a message
saying that the file could not be installed. Doesn't give much more info
than that. I've tried installing three different times with no success!
Any advise?
TIA
Paula

Re: windows update won't install

Apparently, 80070103 stands for "Windows has determined
that the selected driver is not the best driver for your machine."

Drivers for printers etc are best obtained direct from the manufacturer, and
not via Windows Update.

Re: windows update won't install

Hmmmmm strange that it would tell me there is a driver available for my
specific machine and then say that it is not the best driver for my machine
but whatever....I will check the HP web site and forget windows update. I
hope it doesn't keep bugging me about downloading it then.
Thanks everyone for your reply.
