Runtime Error!

I continue to get the following error when I open Windows Internet Explorer:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

abnormal program termination

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?
I'm unable to surf the web and continue business without resolution. Any
help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Re: Runtime Error!

Hello,

- Has this always happened?
- If not, what changed when it stopped working?

Try this and see if it helps:

- Click start
- Click Control panel
- Click Network and Internet
- Click Internet Options
- Click the advanced tab
- Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions"
- Click OK

See if you can start internet explorer now.

Hi Jimmy,

Thank you very much for your help. I'm back online, surfing the internet and
conducting business as usual.

Re: Runtime Error!

Glad to hear it.

If changing that setting helped, then it means there is a third-party
browser extension that was causing the problem.

The reason it works now is because you have disabled these extensions,
so ALL add-ons (like flash and java) won't work.

I would recommend looking for the specific extension that was causing
the problem and disabling it, while allowing the rest of your add-ins
to be enabled.

You can do this using the manage add-ons screen:

- In IE, click tools -> manage add-ons -> disable or enable add-ons
- In the drop-down box, select Show add-ons that have been used by
Internet Explorer
- Look for any add-on that is published by someone that you don't
recognize or that looks suspicious, click on it, and click Disable at
the bottom of the screen

Once you have disabled suspicious add-ons, close all Internet Explorer
windows, go back into Internet Settings and check the box that you
unchecked previously, and open a new Internet Explorer.

If Internet Explorer still runs, then you have disabled the guilty
add-on, while allowing your good add-ons to work.

If it crashes, then the guilty add-on is still enabled: uncheck the
checkbox in Internet Options (using the instructions from my previous
post) and try disabling more add-ons.

This could be a time-consuming process, but it will eventually
identify the guilty add-on and allow you to run your internet explorer
with add-ons.
