| Teh Wintendo Vista Is Up http://www.perfectreign.com/files/images/20070518_vista_loaded.jpg.jpg http://www.perfectreign.com/?q=node/64 I have to admit - the desktop does look pretty. I'm sure I can do most of this in KDE but still.. ....I really like the fingerprint login integrated with the laptop. Nice. Only complaint - I couldn't find my WiFi network. I typically don't broadcast my SSID, so I expect to just type it in (like I do in KNetworkManager) when I first connect. However, Vista gives no option to do so. I had to enable broadcasting my SSID, then get on the network, find a right-click hidden option to "connect even when hidden" and then reset my SSID to not broadcast. Whew! Linux was never this hard! In any case, I'm off and running with Vista. Pan seems to have an issue with the GTK+ DLL's (yes, they still use those!) and I need to install NetBeans and Office 2007. I also have to get rid of this Norton crap and install some reall AV software. Is this NT 6.0? Just curious what version of the kernel I'm on. I'll have to check, as I'm on my Win2K system now. So much work, so little time... -- k linux - genuine windows replacement part |

| Re: Teh Wintendo Vista Is Up Actually the versions of Linux I tried 3-4 years ago sucked big green donkey organs. They convinced me to stick with XP. The newer versions aren't bad. Vista hasn't shown me anything to keep me interested. If I want pretty, I'll go to an art gallery or a beach... -- A Professional Amateur...If anyone knew it all, none of would be here!
