Final VISTA Ultimate upgrade

Has there been any news concerning help in upgrading from our prerelease (RC1
in my case) to the final version when it comes out in late January (?). Any
discount in the upgrade pricing for those of us that have been testing the
prerelease software for well over 8 months as a thank you for participating?
Is there a migration path from where we are now (RC1 in my case) to the final
version without having to start from scratch? Just reasonable questions I
think for us testers.

Thanks

No. Where you a technical beta tester or were you using the CPP
releases? If the former, and if you filed at least one bug, you
are eligible for a free copy of RTM. If the latter, then no.

Upgrades aren't blocked, but you're much better off starting
from scratch especially with a build as old as RC1.

All testers who submitted 1 or more bugs via Connect received a free copy of
Windows Vista. Please see the beta newsgroups for more information.

AFAIK is upgrading from RC1 to RTM not supported.

Re: Final VISTA Ultimate upgrade

You will need a full edition. You may be able to use the full edition's
upgrade functionality.

Pre-release software is "evaluation" software and is not eligible for
upgrade pricing.

Re: Final VISTA Ultimate upgrade

Upgrading from XP to Vista was bad move on my part - things were real ugly.
I installed fresh copy of Vista and things were great.

Re: Final VISTA Ultimate upgrade

He's not upgrading from XP. I agree though that a fresh installation of
Vista rtm is wise.

Re: Final VISTA Ultimate upgrade

Microsoft Connect. You must enroll in a beta program to have access to its
associated newsgroup(s). There is no public link to the betanews servers.
Newsgroups there begin with microsoft.beta.xxxx instead of
microsoft.public.xxxx as they do here.
