Re: Windows System Assessment Tool (WEI)

You may be right about the type vs. amount of memory in the video card but
the OS seems to behave differently. I originally built my Vista box with 1
GB of 800 MHZ RAM in 2 sticks of 512 MB each and got a 4.5 for memory - my
lowest score. When I added a second gig of matching memory, my memory score
climbed to 5.6 GB. Now my 4.7 and 4.8 for graphics are my only two scores
below 5.

Re: Windows System Assessment Tool (WEI)

Yes but that is more memory of the same best kind which in this case is probably the latest type DDR/DDR2/DDR3.
depending on your finances.
The better the one you use gives a more higher score and more of that one gives an even higher score.

Re: Windows System Assessment Tool (WEI)

Your Nvidia 7300 LE would have given you WEI scores of 3.1/2.4 (give or
take). Fast enough to qualify for AERO but ...

Colin has already given you scores for the PNY card you purchased.

My new card to replace the Nvidia 7300 LE arrives tomorrow ... can hardly
wait. That card has clearly been the major bottleneck and cause of
frustration on my PC.

Re: Windows System Assessment Tool (WEI)

Hi,
Where did you see Colin's reply that gave me the score for my new 7600 GS?
Is it in another thread, I if so I don't see it.
Could you Please direct me to it?

Re: Windows System Assessment Tool (WEI)

Hi,
Where did you see Colin's reply that gave me the score for my new 7600 GS?
Is it in another thread, I if so I don't see it.
Could you Please direct me to it?

Re: Windows System Assessment Tool (WEI)

There are several Colins who post in the Vista ng's. I happen to be using a
7900GT. I am getting a 5.9 for desktop performance and 5.9 for business and
gaming performance. This is on Vista x64. You should get in the fives
somewhere.

Re: Windows System Assessment Tool (WEI)

Thanks for responding, Colin,
Where mine is the 7600 GS it is NOT as good as yours but if I do get in the fives that is more than I need cause my
processor will be less than that.
I have a duo core but the cheap one:
(Pentium D 820 (S) DC 2.8 GHz Socket 775 Chipset Intel 945P)
It's no way as good as the E6xxx series.I get confused on the different models.:(

Re: Windows System Assessment Tool (WEI)

My 6800GT on the test box gets about 5.2 so I'm sure you'll be happy with
the 7600GS.

Re: Windows System Assessment Tool (WEI)

Hi Colin,
I'm sure I will but your 6800GT is still a higher score than my 7600 GS.
The second number x8xx tells the advancement the first number 6xxx tells the generation.
I don't know the codes for GT,GS,LE etc but the GT is a faster memory than the GS also.
Actually if I get even a 4.5 I will be happy.

I really just wish MS would release the program to us XP users.
It would be nice to know where you are BEFORE you have to buy it.

Maybe someone can persuade MS of that?
