upgrade your vista computer to XPSP2, it will run faster and more reliable.

This is illeagal since MS wants only ultimate vista to run it.. also it
might not be stable and cause other problems

Another solution I believe is a product by stardock that gives you animated
wallpapers

Do you really need to worry about MY cpu cycles?
I guess you are dumping any windowed OS for DOS based ones correct.?
