Media center- Vista Ultimate

Trying to open Media Center this morning I get the following error message:
"Windows cannot open this system because it has been prevented by a software
restriction policy. Refer to Systems Administrator....."
It has worked OK up to now. Any ideas please?

Re: Media center- Vista Ultimate

Hi,

got a similar issue here. Am using vista ultimate RTM thru msdn. when i use
the media center button, i hear the MCE music and all but the screen still
shows the regular background. task bar shows MCE but when i click it, nothing
and the pointer disapppears. pointer only returns if i click start few times.
on the "switch betw windows" button, i can see the MCE screen asking about
the setup options but if i click to it, same result..... nothing, and
pointers off to a vacation.
system is a 3800 X2, 1GB DDR2, dual 7600GS and 220 GB sata Raid 0
currently am runnning on nvidia's 96.85 beta drivers.
Any suggestions?

Re: Media center- Vista Ultimate

It's hard to say whats going on with your MCE
A good place to start would be to check if your graphics are working as they
should, check if aero glass is working ok and maybe check for a different
version of your video driver
Also if you have any third party dvd playing software it might help if you
uninstalled it

Re: Media center- Vista Ultimate

i just downloaded nvidia drivers off guru3d. version 97.34 foreceware and
seems to have done the trick. was listed as rtm drivers there. could suggest
this as a fix for any issues with the disappearing pointer too.
