Otherwise of late I've installed Mandriva 2007 Powerpack. Over the years I've tried a maybe 8-10 distros, all installed. At first it's fun and different, then it becomes like a hobby and pretty soon it's a full blown job. At that point I usually leave it along cause I need to be productive. By that I mean I need to make real money and I do that with Windows and all the apps installed that I want and need. My experience with linux is probably typical. I see that you and the rest of the linux fan boys are real linux fanatics. It owns you guys for whatever reason(s). That's your problem not mine. I don't understand the mind set or motivation that compels you guys to post your linux taunts in this MS ng. If linux cost money and you were selling it I'd understand. But seeing as how linux it free, points to some other phobia or affliction or aggravation as your motivation. I must say, you guys are certainly an unhappy group of fanatics. Anyway, I'm quite happy with MS and all of the other software from other companies that will run on MS OS's. They put food on my table and money in my pocket. Frank |

| Re: Beware of Upgrading Your Computer Hmmm I've had nothing but luck in dealing with the activation people. I've had to re-do peoples PC before whom already activated Retail Vista and a few of them had all new part (except for the HD). Anyway I was basicly given 3 questions... 1. Have you activated this copy of Vista before? Answer YES 2. Why are you activating this again? Answer: Computer crashed and had to build a new one 3. Are you running this version of Vista on any other Machines? Answer: NOPE just this one. ....OK here is your activation code......... Simple as that. At least for me. If someone bought ultimate but could not afford it then shame on them. Otherwise Vista costs the same as XP. |

Being available for free is not, in and of itself, of any importance if no one knows about it in the first place. It is too bad that you gave up on it so quickly, because doing so does nothing to lend any credence to your low opinion of it. It is fine that you have no use for it, but don't pretend that you did any more than kick the tires and then made a decision on that act only. -- norm |
