enabling write caching on the disk

Does anyone know why when I click 'enable write caching on disk' in device
manager/disk drive/policies that it wont stay ticked on a vista machine?

Its got an SATA disk fitted if that has any bearing. Maybe with SATA disks
you cannot select disk caching could that be it?

Cheers.

You can enable write caching on SATA drives. This won't work if your SATA
drives are configured as RAID.

Oh, thanks maybe that's what it is then I must check. even a system with
one drive can be configured as raid cant it? you it don't always have to be
2 drives to be configured as RAID is that right?

Andy.

Andy, you do need two drives for RAID so I guess RAID is not the problem. I
will continue to look for more info and will post back if I find an answer.

EDIT:
You actually can enable write caching on RAID. Sorry for the inaccurate
info. Don't know if this will help but have you checked the motherboard
manufacturer website for updated SATA controller drivers?
