Movies

I have purchased a new computer with Vista Home Premium, graphics & games are
great but when I go to play a DVD movie it is very grainy and sometimes looks
pixelated. I have tried lowering the resolution but nothing. Is there
anyway I can fix this? Thxs

Re: Movies

What kind of video card are you using? It sounds like it's working overtime
on software rendering, rather than having the GPU handle it. You might try
updating your video drivers as well.

Re: Movies

I am using a 512MB Nvidia(r) GeForce Go 7600 card and it has updated itself
twice but the problem still exists. Thxs for your response.

Re: Movies

What program are you using to play the DVD ?
Is your display standard (4:3) or widescreen (16:9) ?
depending on your settings, if you are playing a widescreen DVD on a regular
screen (or visa versa) the program may be trying to squeeze the picture into
the available screen, resulting in rectangular pixels rather than square,
which yields less than great video. look through your settings for an
option to stretch or letterbox, and see if that helps.

if not, try one of the free video players: GOM or Windows Media Classic,
and see if you get better results.
