Don't use Firefox.
Use IE7.

Pretty Simple.

Firefox is garbage, and add-ons are made by any willy-nilly- idiot who is
bored.

Re: Firefox constantly crashes on Vista

FireFox receives plaudits on a regular basis. It far outshines IE. I have been using it for several years without a major problem. I currently use it with Vista with no problems. Do you have the newest version? Have you tried an uninstall and reinstall? Have you got it set as your default browser?

Firefox never crashes on my Vista. I use it all the time. I like it
because it has more plugins and add ons to toy with than IE 7 and safer
with No Script running.

Have you tried a clean (new) profile? I've been using FF for years and always
migrated my profile to the next version. I've also had strange things happen
that I could never fix or explain. One of the more annoying was javascript that
wouldn't execute, no matter if I enabled it or not.

Created a new profile, imported my bookmarks, reloaded the addons and all of a
sudden, things are working.

Re: Firefox constantly crashes on Vista

I too have constant crashes with the new versions of F/F.
It used to run without any issues until about about Jan. 2009.
My O/S (Vista Home Premium) and all other software are always kept
current.
I have the same issues with other computers running the same O/S.
I will soon give up running F/F as it has become more trouble then it
is worth,
I'm not sure there are any real advantages to running it any longer.
The constant updates are a red flag that it has as many "security
issues" as I/E.

I've been running it ever since 2.0 without issue. As for "constant
updates", I don't know WTF you're referring to. I've seen very few.

I tried IE8... uninstalled it after a half day of crashes.

Well, this guy doesn't think so:

Note the quote under the heading *On a scale of 1-10*:

"It’s really hard to exploit Firefox on Windows."

Have to agree totally: FF behaves nicely in just about every regard.

There will have to be a lot less complaints, before I install IE 8.

i have exactly the same problem. constant crashes. at least 2 or 3 a
day. can't even close down ff with taskmanager. sometimes whole machine
locks up and cant even switch off without power reset.

surely this must be as much vista as ff? vista is a joke. windows 3.1
was more reliable. ms have lost the plot. i would like to continue using
ff but am forced to abort now. dont want to use ie tho.

No problem here with either Vista Ultimate or Win7 RC1. As for saying
Win 3.1 was more reliable, what ARE you smoking?
