Upgrading Ram on Vista 64bit

Hi guys,

I have a new Dell Precision M90 that came with Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
and 2GB of RAM. I just ordered 4GB (2x2GB) of Crucial RAM and after
installing the 4GB of RAM , I have the following issues:

1) The amount of RAM that Windows Vista recognizes is only 3326MB (which is
not correct)

2) Windows Vista updates are downloaded but cannot be installed !

3) Whatever window I open (whether IE, or any other program) the window
flickers on opening and closing

Does anyone have any idea why I have these issues after memory upgrade ?

Thanks

Bardia

Re: Upgrading Ram on Vista 64bit

If you go to Dell's site and view the tech specs on the M90, there is the
following footnote:

"Notebooks configured with 4GB of memory: The total amount of available
memory will be less than 4GB. The amount depends on the actual
configuration"

I suspect the chipset is still allocating memory within the 4GB space even
though you are using x64 OS.
